About Therapy

What really happens in psychotherapy?

At Levang and Associates, psychotherapy is a process in which you work collaboratively with a trained, seasoned, and empathetic therapist. During therapy your current life challenges will be addressed with the ultimate goal of living an authentic and satisfying life.

Therapy allows you to learn how your inner feelings are connected to your beliefs, how these were learned, and ways to change those that are illogical and unhealthy.  Those unhealthy beliefs are felt in the body as they deplete our energy.  Therefore, we believe it is important to use a mind/body approach to help you fully discover your true self and learn how to live accordingly. By living in this way you will have more energy.

A diagnostic interview is conducted at the first session and is typically 1.5 hours in length.

All additional sessions are 50 minutes.

Sessions are typically weekly to ensure that you are experiencing some relief and beginning to deal with the issues and challenges that brought you to therapy. As therapy progresses, sessions can be biweekly and possibly monthly as you come closer to ending therapy.

Clients in crisis will be seen more frequently. We believe that these clients need more intensive therapy quickly to resolve the crisis and receive the support and understanding necessary to stabilize their life.

There are many different styles of therapy from those where the therapist actively challenges the cognitive beliefs of the client to those that wait for the client to gain insights.

At Levang and Associates we come alongside the client, acknowledging and naming their feelings, and identifying the beliefs they have learned to live by.  As this process unfolds we help the client replace old damaging and untruthful beliefs with those that are healing and supportive of a new, healthy way of living.

About Working With Me

Yes we accept most insurances but it is always wise to check your benefits prior to being seen as each plan is unique

I am not currently doing groups with covid-19 but hope to when it is safe.

There are some psychiatrists that I refer to however, not all psychiatrists take insurance as some are cash only.  Therefore, you may have to check your insurance plan.  I do coordinate services with psychiatrists.
